Watching Rodney Spinks I couldnt stop thinking about how he reminded me of Dr. Frederick Chilton in The Silence of the Lambs. He was the warden/doctor/preacher that was trying to rehabilitate Dr. Lechter.

Rodney Spinks Lies...
by iwasblind inhi guys.
i actually have had dealings with rod and found him to be a very reasonable and "non-robotic" man in the past.. i know it should not surprise me, but i was disappointed to hear his lies and half-truths.. they know their stuff and are not easily led, but he tried to lead the royal commission to believe that 2 people could be involved in investigating a claim - which is wrong.. his lack of memory on what parts of the judicial process are biblical - hello - none are.
there are no scriptures that backup the use of 3 men, a body of elders, cutting people off from family and friends, restrictions, etc.. he also lied about the gb being involved in policy creation and changes.. his statement that in all cases, elders are told to inform parents that they can go to the authorities and get the full support of the congregation is not verifiable.

I wasn't able to listen to the entire interview, however, what I heard was very interesting. I didn't know he used to be in a cult himself (moonies) and his family was able to get him out. I plan to listen to it in it's entirety when I have more time. The video is available on the link provided by dudeson if anyone is interested. Thank you, dudeson! -

Crisis of Conscience
by FreeGirl2006 indo you think that any of the clueless, amnesiacs that appeared before the rc will have a crisis of conscience over the abuse situation?
seriously, with the grilling they received from our new heroes, they would have to be sociopaths not to do some long hard thinking about the lack of empathy and compassion the borg displays as a top down policy towards abuse victims.
i can understand these idiots not having an awakening within the confines of their daily lives since they stay cloistered in their belief system, but the rc forced them into the real world with their questions and one would hope, made them think.

I think they will make enough changes (in their opinion) going forward that they will be able to dismiss any guilt they feel from how things were handled so long ago. They will allow the victim to decide how they want to tell their story, who they want to tell it to (initially), and who they would like with them for moral support (including women). They will always tell the victim to go to the police if they wish to do so and they will always recommend that the victim seeks counselling from outside sources. They will still only report the accused to the authorities if the law requires them to do so. If the victim is a young child they will continue to refer to their legal team for advice. I don't think their conscience will drive them to do anything more than what is required by law. -

Do you think they have even shared the info with elders yet? It seems it would be smart to give them a heads up to prepare them for what may be ahead. -

Questioning the gb is the same as questioning god. I would like to see a gb member explain that to the world audience that is watching -

1006 cases of alleged abuse and not one turned over to the police? It's obvious they weren't concerned about the children....they were concerned about covering their own a$$ and protecting their reputation -

"Don't you love Jehovah anymore then ?"
by Phizzy inmrs phizzy ran into a jw lady from a neighbouring congo who has known us since we were teenagers, before we married, sometime in the pleistocene era lol.. during the conversation said lady asked if mrs phizzy was going to the r.c, to which mrs phizzy replied, "oh you haven't heard, we no longer go to meetings".. the jw lady then came back with the question in the thread title, which mrs phizzy handled well.. the point of this is though, what a god-awful, stupid, cult-minded question to ask !.
did she think we woke up one morning and thought "we don't love god anymore" ??
would that happen to anyone ?.

Jw's even take it a step further sometimes. Not only was I accused of not loving jehovah anymore, I was accused of worshipping satan. Some truly believe that if you're not a baptized jw you must be a worshiper of satan. It's one or the other, there is no middle ground. -

I'm with you. I never understood why so many thought Friends was so funny. M.A.S.H (episodes with Frank) and Seinfeld are my re-runs of choice. -

What started me on the path to waking up about the lies the WT teaches?
by oppostate init was a simple question: isn't jesus my "mediator" if i put faith in him like the scriptures say?
the research to that answer, from the w79 4/1 p. 31, was mind blowing.
how dare they deny me a belief firmly stated in the scriptures?

When I was studying I was part of a group study which included some that were raised as jw's but weren't baptized yet. They were embarrassed when I would ask ?'s and would apologize to the baptized ones on my behalf. I didn't think I had done anything wrong by asking questions. I was told that questioning the gb was the same as questioning God himself. That made me very uneasy. It didn't feel right at all.
That was years ago and since then I never question family members that are in. I let them talk and talk about how great the gb is, how satan is doing so many horrible things to them, and how close we are to the end etc....... I remain silent.
